The notorious music mogul Diddy appeared with Justin Bieber on the late-night talk show in 2011 when the Canadian singer was just 16 years old. They discussed their close relationship with host Jimmy Kimmel at the time.
“What’s going on with you two? Are you working together?” Kimmel asked in a clip circulating online following serious legal issues involving Diddy.
The former CEO of Bad Boy Records responded: “No. We’ve become friends in a weird way,” before adding, “Justin is like a little brother… He doesn’t hesitate to call me for advice.”
The Bad Boy for Life rapper explained that the music industry is “a strong family,” and many, including himself, want to “protect” Justin Bieber because he’s “a good kid.”
Diddy continued to praise Bieber’s talent: “Besides the talent, he’s one of the greatest kids I’ve ever known.”
Justin Bieber thanked the owner of the rap song Tell Me for his remarks while the audience applauded throughout this segment. Kimmel suggested Diddy might want to buy the young singer a car as he did with his son.
“He promised me a Lamborghini, but I still haven’t gotten it,” Never Say Never’s voice interrupted, making Diddy look annoyed.
“Justin drove the Lamborghini for one or two days,” the owner of the rap song Last Night said, seemingly referring to the time the two spent 48 hours together according to a YouTube video that Bieber posted.
“He knows better than to talk about what he did with his older brother on national television. Not everything is for everyone,” Combs added.
When Diddy and Bieber spent two days together in 2009, the Coming Home singer told Justin they “would go crazy.”
Diddy added in the YouTube video: “We can’t reveal where we usually gather and what we do, but it’s definitely a dream of a 15-year-old child.”
Amidst the sex crime scandal, another clip showed Diddy and Bieber reappearing on the internet, showing Bieber’s discomfort with some of Diddy’s remarks.
Diddy said in the video: “Sell all the tickets at the performance venues to act differently. You didn’t call me and gather like we usually do, did you?”.
Then Bieber was seen holding a phone to answer: “I tried to contact you through all the partners because you never took my number, do you want my number?”.
However, the singer’s representative recently stated that although Bieber (now 30 years old) “is aware of Diddy’s arrest and all the allegations,” he “just wants to focus on being a great father and husband.”
Justin Bieber married Hailey Bieber in September 2018, and the couple welcomed their first child in August 2024.
Diddy is facing charges of sex trafficking, extortion, and transporting prostitutes, with a minimum sentence of 15 years and a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
In a recent press conference, the I Need a Girl singer was accused of sexually assaulting 120 individuals, including 25 minors (some as young as 9 years old at the time of the crime).
Attorney Tony Buzbee, who led the press conference, warned that “many powerful people” will be exposed in connection to Diddy’s misconduct and claimed that these names will “shock” the public.
Diddy is currently awaiting trial behind bars, though the court date has not yet been set.
